WKU Men’s Basketball defeated the California Baptist Lancers 73-70, Tuesday, in a close finish.

The team has won six straight games.  They now move to 10-3 on the season and have not lost a game in December.

Senior guard Dontaie Allen scored 17 points; one point shy of his season high.  Junior guard Don McHenry added 14 points and senior guard Brandon Newman scored seven and grabbed 12 rebounds.

The team shot 41% from the field and 44% from three while grabbing 42 rebounds.

WKU dominated in the first half, jumping to an early 19-7 run before stretching the lead to 20.  They forced 10 first half turnovers and held the Lancers to one three-pointer.

However, WKU’s 13 second half turnovers brought the Lancers back into the game. The Hilltoppers led comfortably most of the half, with their smallest lead being seven up until the very end, where California Baptist cut the lead to three with seconds remaining.  The Lancers missed two free throws and the game-tying three, cementing the WKU win.

The Hilltoppers will return to Bowling Green, where they will host Abilene Christian at E.A. Diddle Arena on Dec. 30 at 3p.m. CT.
