The Preston Health and Activities Center hosted a casino-themed event Wednesday to showcase Bowling Green’s many health organizations.
The 23rd annual Healthy Days, held by WKU’s student wellness program, WellU, filled the Preston Center from 1 to 5 p.m. The fair held organizations both on and off campus that help students live healthfully in their journey through college, with a special guest appearance from Big Red.
Some of the organizations at the event were the Warren County Parks Department, WKU’s Med Center Health, Sticky Paws Bakery and the Talley Family Counseling Center. The event featured activities to engage students and excite them about living healthfully, such as a fitness-related rowing challenge and small dancing classes. Students also got the chance to enter a raffle for visiting many of the booths to win prizes like a blender and a Cirkul water bottle.
“There’s all sorts of stuff that students just don’t know they can get involved in,” attendee Carlee Hite said. “We pay so much money in tuition that I think it’s good that they try to give back to us in the ways that they do.”
WKU Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness Kathleen Langley expressed her gratitude for the ability to showcase the resources available to students.
“When we start doing more programs with them throughout the year, the students are familiar with these spaces and the services they offer,” Langley said.
A blood drive was also offered for students to get the opportunity to donate blood that will be given to help Bowling Green residents.
