For Sarah Hunt, senior criminology and sociology major, the chance to decorate a graduation cap for free was too good to pass up.
She said while she isn’t graduating until May, she wanted to take the opportunity to start working on her idea for a design.
Cap decorating, nutrition advice, henna tattoos and uplifting messages were all a part of the WK & You destress event held in the WKU Bookstore on Thursday.

Kalee Stevens, a junior hospitality management and dietetics major, was tabling at the event for Hilltopper Nutrition.
“I think it’s really important for students to have fun, to take a break from the school, class, stressful routine,” Stevens said.
Stevens also added that it’s important to her that she spreads awareness about the resources Hilltopper Nutrition provides.
“Food is a big part of physical health, and knowing that there are resources to help you with that is super good,” Stevens said.
Also present at the event was amateur henna tattoo artist Lacey Bowen. Henna is a form of temporary tattoo done with plant-based dye.
Bowen said she wanted to help support students.
“Any opportunity that you have to connect with a friendly face and take a breather is going to just reset your day,” Bowen said.
Students could also leave encouraging messages on a wall of sticky notes.
Hunt said she appreciated the opportunity to work with her hands and forget about classes for a few minutes.
“I just wanted to get creative,” Hunt said. “It’s a stressful time of the semester.”
