Bowling Green prepares for a spectacle as the time for the Light Up BGKY tradition nears.
Light Up BGKY is an annual event throughout the week of December 1-7. The week will kick off with the lighting of holiday lights at the Historic RailPark and Train Museum.
Med Center Health will have lights or poinsettias for purchase on Dec. 2 in order to honor a loved one who has passed. The money from this event will go towards funding Med Center Health Foundation initiatives.
Riverview at Hobson Grove will host a Christmas market on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The Grinch will be visiting the town’s ice skating rink on Thursday to tell a holiday story.
The lighting of downtown Bowling Green and the community Christmas tree will take place on Friday. Santa will be making a temporary workshop with some Christmas elves in Circus Square Park for picture opportunities as well.
Fountain Square Park will also be having a light-up event at 5:30 p.m. with live music, preceded by a free storytelling of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at The Capitol Theatre at 4 p.m., then again at 5 p.m.
The week will culminate in the Bowling Green Warren County Jaycees Parade at 9:30 a.m. and a free showing of the films “Elf” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” at the Capitol on Saturday.
